O'Danielite is a rare secondary arsenate.

At the type locality, the Tsumeb Mine, Oshikoto Region, Namibia, o'danielite occurs as a secondary mineral in corroded copper ore in the oxidised zone of a dolostone-hosted hydrothermal zinc-rich polymetallic ore deposit (Webmin, Mindat) Associated minerals include tennantite, chalcocite, copper-bearing adamite, stranskiite, lavendulan, köttigite, tsumcorite, koritnigite and prosperite (HOM, Mindat, CM 59.243-263).
