Thunderbayite is a new mineral, approved in 2020 and to date (May 2023) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Hemlo gold deposit, Bomby Township, Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada, thunderbayite occurs as very rare anhedral rims up to 70 μm across in contact with aurostibite and associated spatially with stibarsen, biagioniite and native gold in a calcite matrix (MM 84.6.805-812).
