Localities

At the type locality, the Bärenbad Mine, Scharnbachgraben, Hollersbach im Pinzgau, Zell am See District, Salzburg, Austria, eclarite occurs in gold-bearing sulphide ores of copper located in quartz veins cutting amphibolite facies metamorphosed mafic rocks. Associated minerals include pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, stannite, bismuth, gold and quartz (HOM).
Eclarite occurs in fan-shaped aggregates of needle-like crystals up to 1.5 cm long, or as granular fracture-fillings in pyrite and arsenopyrite (AM 70.214-221).
