Localities

There are two co-type localities, the Khaidarkan Sb-Hg deposit, Kadamjay District, Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan, and the Gal-Khaya As-Hg-Sb Deposit, Ust-Yansky District, Sakha, Russia.
Galkhaite occurs in the type localities in hydrothermal mercury-gold deposits as well formed crystals up to 1 cm in size and their aggregates, and also as granular aggregates. Associated minerals include pyrite, stibnite, cinnabar, metacinnabar, aktashite, wakabayashilite, orpiment, realgar, getchellite, calcite, fluorite and quartz. Galkhaite is replaced in places by cinnabar and metacinnabar (AM 59.209).

At the Getchell Mine, Adam Peak, Potosi Mining District, Osgood Mountains, Humboldt County, Nevada, USA, galkhaite is associated with pyrite, realgar, stibnite, orpiment, getchellite, fluorite and quartz (HOM).
