Pegmatites

Gorbunovite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2017 and to date (December 2025) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Dara-i-Pioz Massif, Districts of Republican Subordination, Tajikistan, gorbunovite occurs as lamellar grains or flakes from 2 μm to 0.2 mm in a quartzpectolite aggregate and is associated with quartz, fluorite, pectolite, baratovite, aegirine, leucosphenite, neptunite, reedmergnerite, orlovite, sokolovaite, mendeleevite-(Ce), odigitriaite, pekovite, zeravshanite, kirchhoffite and garmite (MM 89.5.694-699).
