Hydrothermal environments
Parisite-(Ce) is found in calcite veins in hydrothermal deposits, in
granite pegmatites and in carbonatites rich in rare-earth elements. Associated minerals include
bastnäsite, synchysite,
cordylite, ancylite,
calcite, fluorite,
riebeckite, zircon and
quartz
(HOM, Mindat).
Localities
There are two co-type localities, both at the Muzo Municipality, Boyacá Department, Colombia. The parisite-(Ce)
occurs in intensely folded, carbonaceous shale beds, associated with
pyrite, marcasite,
cerium-bearing dolomite,
albite, calcite,
quartz, gypsum and
emerald
(Dana, Mindat).
At the Trimouns Talc Mine, Luzenac, Foix, Ariège, Occitanie, France, parisite-(Ce) crystals to 2.8 cm long
occur in crystalline dolomite interbedded with dark green to black
shale
(Minrec 35.3.240-241).
At Itorendrika-Ifasina, Imorona valley, Itremo, Ambatofinandrahana, Amoron'i Mania, Madagascar, parisite-(Ce) occurs with
bastnäsite and chevkinite
(Dana ).
At the Zagi Mountain, Hameed Abad Kafoor Dheri, Peshawar District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan,
parisite-(Ce) occurs as crystals to
3 cm and also as epitaxial overgrowths on bastnäsite
(Minrec 35.3.217-218)
At the Fallon Brothers Quarry, Quincy, Norfolk county, Massachusetts, USA, parisite-(Ce) occurs in pegmatite pipes in
granite, associated with aegirine,
microcline, riebeckite,
fluorite, ilmenite and
anatase
(Dana ).
At Pyrites, Ravalli county, Montana, USA, parisite-(Ce) occurs with pyrite in altered
trachyte
(Dana ).
