Metamorphic environments

Piemontite-(Pb) is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2011, and to date (May 2022) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Mixed Series formation, Babuna Valley, Jakupica Mountains, Nežilovo, Veles Municipality, North Macedonia, piemontite-(Pb) occurs as imperfect blocky crystals to 2mm in the “Mixed Series” of metamorphic and igneous rocks, in dolomitic marble and baryte schist. Associated minerals include baryte, dolomite, calcite, hematite, cymrite, zinc- and manganese- bearing phlogopite, intermediate members of the hancockiteepidotepiemontite series, hedyphane, nežilovite, rinmanite, gahnite, tilasite, rutile, zinc-rich aegirine-augite, eckermannite-ferro-glaucophane, senaite, roméite, arsenic-rich fluorapatite, bindheimite, mimetite, chromite and braunite (HOM, Mindat).
