Localities

At the type locality, the Mayak Mine, Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit, Noril'sk, Putoran Plateau, Taimyr Peninsula, Taymyrskiy Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, polarite occurs as in grains up to 0.3 mm in hydrothermal copper-nickel-iron sulphide veins. Associated minerals include chalcopyrite, talnakhite, cubanite, stannopalladinite, paolovite, sobolevskite, sperrylite, cabriite, palarstanide, nickel-rich platinum, sphalerite and native silver (AM 55.1810, HOM).
