Paolovite occurs in copper-nickel
sulphide ores (Webmin), associated with cubanite,
chalcopyrite, galena,
talnakhite, mooihoekite,
magnetite, sperrylite,
sobolevskite, taimyrite,
polarite, maslovite,
atokite–rustenburgite,
froodite, silver,
palladium and bismuth
(HOM).
Localities
At the type locality, the Oktyabrsky mine, Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit, Noril'sk, Putoran Plateau, Taimyr Peninsula, Taymyrskiy
Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, paolovite occurs in
copper-nickel sulphide ores, and in
cubanite–chalcopyrite,
cubanite–talnakhite, and
cubanite–mooihoekite assemblages.
It occurs as polysynthetically twinned grains, commonly intergrown with
sperrylite, native silver,
palladium, bismuth
and rustenburgite
(AM 59.1331, HOM).
