Surassite occurs as vein ̄fillings in manganese deposits in low-grade metasediments, associated with braunite, baryte, calcite and quartz (HOM).

Localities

At the Woodstock Iron-Manganese mine, Wakefield Parish, Carleton county, New Brunswick, Canada, sursassite occurs in veinlets cutting iron - manganese ores (Dana).

At the type locality, Parsettens Alp, Tinizong, Surses, Albula Region, Grisons, Switzerland, sursassite occurs in cracks in radiolarian chert in the manganese deposits, associated with with tinzenite, parsettensite, rhodonite, quartz, albite, baryte and manganese-bearing calcite (AM 12.380, Dana).

At an unspecified manganese occurrence at George Canyon, Palos Verdes Hills, Palos Verdes peninsula, Los Angeles county, California, USA, sursassite occurs in glaucophane schist (Dana).
