Zincite is a primary mineral in metamorphosed zinc-manganese-iron oxide-silicate ore bodies in crystalline Franklin marble at Franklin and Sterling Hill, New Jersey, USA, associated with franklinite, willemite and calcite (HOM). It is also a secondary mineral altered from other zinc minerals in oxidized zinc-rich ore deposits, associated with zinc, sphalerite, smithsonite, hemimorphite and hausmannite (HOM).
