Hydrothermal environments

Owyheeite occurs in veins of hydrothermal origin, associated with galena, sphalerite, pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, tetrahedrite, pyrargyrite, diaphorite, miargyrite, jamesonite, boulangerite, ramdohrite, andorite and meneghinite (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, the Poorman Mine, Silver City Mining District, Owyhee county, Idaho, USA, owyheeite was found in a white quartz vein immediately associated with small amounts of pyrargyrite, sphalerite and muscovite variety sericite (AM 6.82-83).
